New Patient Friendly Billing Statement; New Payment Options Available at Mangum Community Hospital, Quartz Mountain Medical Clinic Mangum, Oklahoma (June 9, 2008) – Mangum Community Hospital and Quartz Mountain Medical Clinics in Mangum and Hollis have recently taken numerous steps to improve the process and functioning of its billing process. One of the most recent changes is the implementation of new billing statements which are much more patient friendly than the statements used in the past. The new patient billing statements not only offer more detailed information regarding the care received, but also easy payment options. Detailed patient information includes the patient account number, the name and guarantor of the patient, the date of visit, the facility where the patient was seen, the treating physician for that visit, and current insurance information. In addition, the charges are detailed and totaled and all insurance payments and adjustments are shown for each visit. Easy payment options for patients include payments by check or credit card, using the detachable payment slips and remittance envelope included with the statement. Insurance and address changes can also be made on the back of the payment slip. To assist with the payment process, credit card payments can also be made via the internet. A new 24 hour web service is included with the new patient billing statements. Each statement will include information for FREE online account payment and billing questions. Each patient is provided with their own individual user name and password for this service where they can review their bill, make payments by credit card, update insurance information, and submit questions regarding their bill. Mangum Community Hospital and Quartz Mountain Medical Clinic employees will now be notified of address changes made through the post office. This will assist in the accuracy and timeliness of getting patient bills out to the patients. Employees will also be able to access the online billing statements and view the exact bill that each patient received. Should a patient call or come in with any questions regarding their bill, employees will see the same information as the patient and be able to answer and explain questions more accurately. “We are focused on the continued improvement of the patient experience throughout our healthcare system, from admission, to patient care, to billing. The new billing statements are one effort and should make a significant positive impact on our patients. We see this as an avenue which will decrease the frustrations caused by a lack of information and limited payment options seen in the past” explains Spencer Marks, VP of Revenue Cycle Management.
