Emergency Preparedness Grant Awarded to Quartz Mountain Medical Center

Mangum, Oklahoma (February 3, 2009) Quartz Mountain Medical Center (QMMC) announced that it has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Oklahoma State Department of Health to be used to support the continued development of our emergency preparedness plan.

Jan Winter, CEO of Quartz Mountain Medical Center said “This will allow QMMC to purchase needed equipment without having to utilize our operational funds.  Mary Greer, Lindsay Crabb, and Trent Edwards did a great job in preparing and submitting the grant request by the due date.  Without their diligence, this grant would not have been possible.”

The grant will also help the hospital perform an in-depth risk analysis for the hospital’s potential disaster scenarios and develop a comprehensive emergency management plan.  Winter said the funds would go toward Emergency Preparedness Planning Services to build new or supplement existing capabilities focusing on Interoperable Communications, Hospital Evacuation, Fatality Management and Partnership Coalition.
The grant period runs from January 1, 2010, through June 30, 2010.  The hospital will be working with the City of Mangum and the local emergency management throughout the period.
