Advanced Training Benefits Both Patients and Employees at Little River Healthcare System

Rockdale, Texas (September 30, 2008) Little River Healthcare System team members recently had the opportunity to participate in a two-day ACLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support training class.

The American Heart ACLS course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient.  Through the ACLS course, providers are able to enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiac emergencies.  ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.  The course is based on simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation by healthcare providers.

“We are very excited to provide our team members with the opportunity to participate in an advanced training class that reinforces the life-saving skills necessary to provide our communities with excellent healthcare” stated Jeremy Riney, Little River Healthcare System CEO.
