Blackhawk Healthcare Completes Acquisition of Lakeside Hospital at Bastrop
Austin, Texas (July 1, 2009) Blackhawk Healthcare, LLC ("Blackhawk") announced that it has completed the acquisition of the operations of Lakeside Hospital in Bastrop, Texas. Lakeside Hospital at Bastrop is a Joint Commission Accredited community hospital licensed for 15 beds. Blackhawk has managed Lakeside since September 2008 and has been working with Stillwater National Bank and the LHB founders since then to save the hospital from foreclosure.
“We are glad we could reach an agreement with Stillwater National Bank and the LHB ownership group of the hospital that will benefit all parties involved,” said Matt Hainline, CEO of Blackhawk. “It was important to us to explore all alternatives and make decisions that were in the best interest of all involved and for the future of health care in Bastrop County."
The Lakeside Hospital offers a wide range of services including cardiology, medical and surgical acute care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services and outpatient surgical and emergency care. Lakeside Hospital will also continue its plan to recruit and retain more specialty doctors. Jeff Madison, EVP of Operations for Blackhawk Healthcare, said “This partnership will allow Lakeside Hospital to continue our relationships with our existing doctors and allow us to search for other specialists to serve our patients. For the past year, we’ve been actively recruiting new physicians and are interested in adding other specialties including full time cardiology, allergy and immunology, otolaryngology, general surgery and orthopedics."
