Government Billing and Follow-up Specialists review and determine claims appropriate for electronic billing.  Processes electronic claims timely and accurately, thereby insuring productivity.  Processes all claim edits and rejections to insure low accounts held and smooth flow.  Responsible for the follow-up and collection of the government portions of the assigned patient accounts.  This includes analysis of the accounts to discover and then pursue all available avenues of reimbursement, reconciling the account and submitting necessary adjustments, sufficiently and clearly documenting all collection efforts in the billing system, and re-billing or completing the appeal process as deemed necessary.

Education: High school graduate required; some higher education desirable.

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year previous medical billing, third party, agency (Medicare/Medicaid) patient follow-up experience required; medical terminology or successful completion of medical terminology training required within 6 months of hire and knowledge of various reimbursement/-billing methodologies (ICD-9; CPT 4; DRG) strongly preferred.
